Red, White, and Blue Cupcakes

I took these cupcakes to the kickball team party at the coach's house on Friday night. They were so incredibly easy to put together and the girls devoured them!

Red velvet and white cake swirl together to create a marbled looking cake. I topped them off with some blue icing and we had a very-patriotic treat to enjoy by the pool!

This week I'm off to FitBloggin! I am so excited to be back in Savannah, GA. We stopped there for a couple hours last summer on our way to South Carolina to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant.

Red, White, and Blue Cupcakes

You will need:
2 plastic squirt bottles
1 box white cake mix + ingredients from the back of the box
1 box red velvet cake mix + ingredients from the back of the box
1 container Blue Icing- I used Pillsbury Aqua Blue icing

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350* and line cupcake tins with cupcake liners.
In two separate bowls, mix each cake mix according to directions on the back of the box.
Transfer each mix to it's own plastic squirt bottle (like the ketchup/mustard bottles for BBQ's).
Squirt batter whichever way you want! I made all of my designs different so no cupcake would be the same.
Bake for ~18 minutes and allow to cool a minute or two before transferring to a cooling rack.
Once completely cooled, top each cupcake with blue icing and serve.
